The Five Vows |
The Five Vows transmits the essence of the five precepts, the code of conduct according to the view of the Great Perfection Tantras, lived by the Yogis of the MahaSiddha Tradition. This covers the potent themes of a practitioners life from a unique and extraordinary perspective of non-duality; topics include vegetarian lifestyle vs meat eating, the view on alcohol and drug use, conscious use of sexual energy, working with desire, handling resources, crazy wisdom and the speech that takes us beyond dualistic confusion. Because in the MahaSiddha Tradition, we take the view of Dzogchen, the Practice of Tantra and Conduct of the Inner Nature of Sutra, the emphasis in conduct is on awareness and skillful means rather than one what you should or shouldn't do. It is about the meticulous speficity of the moment and the radical discipline of upholding awareness, rather than rigidly upholding reductionist preconceptions of what is right or wrong. We find these teachings on code of conduct to be about the way of being that is enlightenment and the living intelligence within skillful means.
